URB-E Employee Spotlight: Tom Gilfillan

Tom Gillifan is a Sales Manager here at URB-E. As comfortable in a hotel (see: image below) as he is at a car show, Tom is always expanding the idea of where electric scooters belong. URB-E's vision is to make the world a more fun, more efficient place: like a great explorer, Tom goes into the wild and maps that vision onto reality. Read on to see why he loves URB-E and what he does in the few hours he isn't selling the world's premiere folding electric scooter!

How Long Have You Been with URB-E?

I joined the URB-E team in July 2015 as our first sales team member.

Tell us a little bit about what you do at URB-E

During my tenure at URB-E I've worn many different hats in the sales and marketing department, from sales to being an actor in our videos. I work with our sales and marketing team to educate our customers on the multiple aspects of URB-E and URBAN626. Every day, I speak with customers to learn their unique use cases and share how URB-E can benefit their commute, their budget, and their time. As we've grown I've focused on developing partnerships in hospitality, real estate, public safety, and event activation markets.

What's the best part of your job?

The relationship I develop with our customers. All of our customers come from different backgrounds, and it's a pleasure to learn their stories and find ways to improve their lives or their businesses. Knowing that you provide something that enhances people's lives never stops being rewarding.

What's your favorite URB-E moment?

SXSW 2016. In just 2 weeks our team put together meaningful partnerships with Amazon Launchpad, The W Austin, The Driskill Hotel, WeWork, Pandora, LUXE, and SXSW, among others, to completely overwhelm the city of Austin with URB-Es. It was an incredible testament to the hard work and determination of our entire team, and I was proud to be a part of the experience.

What person from history do you think would love an URB-E, and why?

Hard to pick just one person, but personally, I bet Harry Houdini would have some interesting stunts to perform with an URB-E...

What do you enjoy doing when you're not at work?

Anything outdoors or sports related. I'm an avid fly-fisherman, surfer, and former collegiate water polo player, so anytime I'm on the river, in the ocean, or in the pool, I'm happy. Tom and the rest of the team love talking URB-E, and you can come visit us at 54 W Green Street in Pasadena or give the team a call at today to schedule a test ride or get a tour of the production facility!
